Los Quetzales Ecolodge & SPA

Nestled in a highland cloudforest of the Chiriqui Province, in Western Panama, Los Quetzales Ecolodge & Spa is a wonderful retreat for those in quest of serenity and provides excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings. Indeed, it is located inside the Friendship International Park, a national park of 900,000 hectares shared with Costa Rica.

The main lodge in the small town of Guadalupe consists of 10 well appointed rooms, five beautiful suites, two dormitories, a large restaurant, a cosy bar, and a lounge. The cedar-walled suites contain a romantic fireplace, a kitchenette, a bathtub, sofas, and a rain forest-facing balcony. Last but not least, a delightful spa offers massages by the riverside, facials, sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi.

The ecolodge also features four two-story wooden chalets located right in the Friendship International Park. They are equipped with queen beds, fireplaces, kitchens, dining and living rooms, and observation balconies, each with an impressive view of the surrounding primary rainforest. The experience of spending the night in the forest is truly exceptional. Even hummingbirds come greet you when you wake up, and you might spot an elusive quetzal from your front porch.

Tropical flora and fauna abound in this untouched natural setting, made of pristine streams, beautiful waterfalls, and surprising flowers. The cool climate is revitalizing and keeps away all biting insects. Other activities nearby include hiking up the summit of Volcan Baru, a visit to an Orchyd garden, river rafting, biking, horseback riding, mountain hiking and trout fishing.
